The Blazing Rims automotive club operating under the guidance and supervision of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University has organized a Car and Bike show on the 8th and 9th of November 2013. The Auto Show is an open event and caters to the niche segment of automotive enthusiasts in the eastern province. This year’s Auto Show features 165 cars, 60 motorcycles and 10 choppers including entries from classics, modified and exotic categories among many others. The Club President, M. Ibrahim Ansari was quoted as saying, “We have been fortunate to get tremendous support from Prince Mohammad University and an amazing response from participants – over 500 entries were received and only the best were selected to be part of the Auto Show history”.
Latest technology is also being utilized for the show including a mobile app to help visitors vote for their favorite cars. Winners are selected based on the category of car/motorcycle and number of votes received by the audience. In the words of the Club Vice President Sohaib Asif, “We wanted to engage the visitors and drivers to share their knowledge and passion of automobiles – and by creating a unique voting system we hope to promote Driver – Audience ties and in turn benefit the entire show, making it a more rewarding experience overall”.
The Auto Show is an annual event organized by the students of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University and is sponsored by The Pitstop, Mercedes Benz (Juffali), Alfa Romeo andRoadmaster in association with Burger Fuel and RedBull this year. “We have made several improvements to the show since last year and the audience will enjoy several games and spot prizes during the event”, said Club Public Relations Manager Abdullah Al-Ghamdi.
Mr Iyad Badar, Acting Director of Student Affairs, highlighted the importance of such events and said, “The Department ofStudent Affairs is an essential part of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University which supports students in organizing and executing major events like The Auto Show and in turn imparts real world working knowledge and experience which is essential for their overall growth”.
